Outreach Options

Can’t make it to the museum? Let the FCHS come to you! We offer a variety of engaging and interactive programs that can be tailored for all age groups. We’re also happy to work with you to put together a custom program to fit your group’s needs. These programs are available for classrooms, summer camps, Scout groups, and more.

Available Programs

The Haudenosaunee in the Mohawk Valley
Explore the history and culture of the Haudenosaunee (Iroquois) people in the Mohawk Valley from the 1500s to today. We’ll take a look at photos of a replica model of a longhouse, learn the story of the Great Law of Peace, and make a cornhusk doll.

Rationing on the WWII Homefront
When food was rationed during World War II, what did people eat? How did they deal with shortages, make their food last longer, and avoid being wasteful? Join us in an exploration of how families participated in the war effort through rationing and test out a WWII recipe from Knox Gelatine in Johnstown.

The Artists Colony at Canada Lake
Did you know that Caroga was a haven for artists and performers in the early 1900s? There were even films made there right on the shores of the lake! Learn all about the different artists that lived along the water and the inspiration they took from their environment. Then use you own surroundings to create your own wonderful piece of art!
